“Levi Ackerman.”

The order echoes throughout the scarce chambers, delivered in a manner far too distant for any visits by clemency.

“Though your motives remain unclear, you have been found guilty of the murder of Mikasa Ackerman.” Darius Zackly states the offense with disgust. “Your sentence shall be death by hanging, to commence one week from today.”

“So be it.” For the first time in years, the disgraced soldier declines all invitations from his insolent blood to protest. And though portions of the courtroom react with anguish – Hanji’s agonized wail the loudest of all – the majority remains subdued, seemingly satisfied at the act of justice.
